Mercado de San Telmo, one of the famous landmarks of San Telmo, is a massive market. Occupying a quater of a block, it can be entered from the streets Defensa, Carlos Calvo, Bolívar and Estados Unidos. The market was built in 1897, one of the works of the architect Juan Buschiazzo. The facade expresses characteristics of an Italian style. Inside, one can appreciate the strong iron structure of the ceilings and the artistic qualities of the glass. The market provides a good mix of products ranging from antiques and clothing shops to fruit and vegtable stands, butchers shops and bakeries. Mercado de San Telmo is a market rich in history that continues to be an important part of the neighborhood.
